Either because they don’t fit the music format, or because they might make people feel miserable, here are five ripping Christmas songs that I’ll have to hear on CD or YouTube and not my radio this Festivus!
The Darkness – Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)
This will forever be my favourite Christmas song. Let your hair down and have fun. Still devastated this song only missed out on UK “Christmas Number One” to the depressing non-joyous version of “Mad World” by Gary Jules.
The Pogues Featuring Kirsty MacColl – Fairytale Of New York
Ringing bells, shining lights, drunks and maggots… all the ups and downs are here. It’s a classic.
The Kinks – Father Christmas
It’s kind of like Kevin Bloody Wilson’s “Hey Santa Claus” without the French.
Robert Earl Keene’s Merry Christmas from the Family
Having the family over for Christmas doesn’t always go exactly to plan, and isn’t always glamorous, but we still love it!!
Twisted Sister – O Come All Ye Faithful
Coz sometimes the song needs to be traditional, and sometimes it needs to be louder than all the other hoopla around!
Merry Christmas, peeps!
